Lakshmipur: Miscreants shot a Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal leader to death at Sadar upazila in Lakshmipur on Wednesday night.

Bhangakha union Juba Dal president Abu Sayed Pintu confirmed that the deceased, Mohammad Bablu, was the assistant organising secretary of Juba Dal.

Police recovered the bullet-hit body from a waterbody at Neamatpur Dolakandi of Bhangakha union at about 9:00am on Thursday.

Local union council chairman Kazi Anwar Hossain Kajal said the body has five bullet marks. Abu Sayed Pintu quoting the deceased’s family members said Bablu went missing after he left his home on Wednesday afternoon. Later his body was recovered from the waterbody.

Lakshmipur Sadar Police assistant sub-inspector Nurjahan said the body was sent to Sadar Hospital morgue.
