Faridpur: A series of violent clashes, triggered by an eve-teasing incident at Boalmari upazila in Faridpur, about 145km west of Dhaka, left 10 people injured since Sunday evening.

Chunnu Biswas, a local trader, said that a woman from Chatrakanda village along with her brother-in-law went to Sahsrail Bazar for shopping on Sunday evening.

A group of hoodlums misbehaved with the woman in public leading to a fist fight.

In a sequel to the incident, Biswas said, villagers equipped with sharp weapons fought a series of battle since 7:00am to 11:00am on Monday, leaving the 10 people injured.

The injured people were treated at Boalmari upazila health complex.

Boalmari police officer-in-charge Md Aminul Haque said the situation was brought under control by deploying additional policemen from the district headquarters.
