Yaba dealer killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

Cox’s Bazar: An alleged Yaba trader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Alikhali near the bank of River Naf in Teknaf upazila in the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased is Hosain Ahmmad, 32, a resident of the same area.
Teknaf BGB-42 Battalion commanding officer lieutenant colonel Abu Zar Al Zahid said they had secret information that a gang of Yaba traders was smuggling a consignment of Yaba from Myanmar through the River Naf, a patrol team of the border force conducted a drive in the area at about 12:30am.
Sensing the presence of the border force, a group of Yaba peddlers, including Hosain, opened fire at them, promoting the BGB members to fire back that triggered a gunfight.
Hosain was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot.
Three BGB members were also injured during the gunfight.
The border force recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The border force also recovered 40,000 pieces of Yaba tablet, one shutter gun, two sharp weapons and three bullets from the spot.
