Case filed over killing of Italian in Dhaka
Dhaka: A case was filed in connection with the killing of an Italian national in the city’s Gulshan area on Monday evening.
An official of ‘ICCO Cooperation’ filed the case with Gulshan Police Station on Tuesday morning.
Earlier, Italian national Tavella, 60, technical director of the Netherlands-based non-governmental organisation ‘ICCO Cooperation’, was shot dead by some miscreants in Gulshan area of the city.
Quoting ‘Sight Intelligence Group’, Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for killing the Italian national, foreign media reports.
US, UK and Canada have updated their security alert for their citizens in Bangladesh after the incident.
European Union (EU) Ambassador to Bangladesh Pierre Mayauddon on Tuesday expressed deep concern following the savage assassination of Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella employed by the Netherlands-based NGO ICCO and called for immediate probe into it.
