Dhaka: The onus of investigation into the sensational killing of Italian national has been transferred to Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The case filed over the murder of Cesare Tavella, 50, Project Manager for PROOFS (Profitable Opportunities for Food Security) of the Netherlands-based non-governmental organisation ‘ICCO Cooperation’, was transferred to the DB from Gulshan Police Station on Tuesday.

Cesare Tavella was shot to death by some miscreants in the city’s Gulshan area on Monday evening.

On that night, Heleen Saaf van der Beek, country representative of ICCO Cooperation, filed a case with Gulshan Police Station. Sub-inspector Sabbir of the police station was made investigation officer (IO) of the sensational murder case.

Contacted, DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Muntashirul Islam said detectives are now investigating the killing as the case has already been transferred to the DB.
