US softens security messages, Italy lifts red security
Dhaka: The US Embassy in Dhaka on Thursday apparently softened the security advisories for its citizens in Bangladesh.
‘The US Embassy in Dhaka has lifted the shelter-in-place order that was in effect until Tuesday morning [29 September],’ it said in a ‘security message’ for US citizens.
The Embassy employees, however, have been instructed to use caution while traveling throughout the city.
‘US citizens residing in Bangladesh should continue to take whatever precautions they determine to be prudent, remain vigilant about their personal security, and be alert to local security developments,’ it said.
The US government personnel and their families have been instructed to limit movements and are prohibited from traveling on foot, motorcycle, bicycle, rickshaw or other uncovered means on all public thoroughfares and sidewalks; and attending large gatherings in Bangladesh, including events at international hotels, unless they have obtained Regional Security Office permission.
On the other hand, Italian Embassy in Dhaka lifted the red security alert issued earlier following the killing of its citizen in the city.
