Dhaka: The death toll of Bangladeshi hajj pilgrims in Mina stampede reached 51, says a press note released from Bangladesh consulate in Jeddah.

The press note reads Bangladesh ambassador to Saudi Arabia Golam Moshi said a total of 63 Bangladeshi pilgrims are admitted to several hospitals in Makkah and Jeddah. Most of the victims are kept in the hospitals’ Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Bangladesh Hajj Mission authorities said some of the deceased were buried at Makkah after taking their families consents.

However, around 140 Bangladeshi pilgrims are still missing in the stampede incident.  

Officials at the Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah along with the officials of Bangladesh Hajj Mission in Makkah are working to identify the dead bodies of the deceased pilgrims.

Relatives accompanying pilgrims and hajj agents of the missing pilgrims have been requested to contact Bangladesh Hajj Mission in Makkah (room No 107, phone- 00966-(0)125413980, email-missionhajj@gmail.com) to help identify the dead bodies.
