Dhaka: Lawyer of death row convict Salauddin Quader Chowdhury is going to meet him at Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur on Tuesday afternoon.

The BNP leader’s counsel, Hajjatul Islam, said he is going to meet Salauddin Quader to discuss the review petition against the verdict of court, which upheld the death sentence awarded to him by the International Crimes Tribunal.

Hajjatul Islam on his way to Kashimpur said over phone Salauddin’s family decided to send him to meet Salauddin after asking to the jail super.

Earlier, on 1 October, a three-member ICT bench led by Justice Anwarul Haque issued death warrants for Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ali Ahsan Mohammed Mujahid.

On 30 September, the Supreme Court released the full verdicts of the appeals filed by Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid paving way for their execution.

BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury was sentenced to death by ICT 1 as it on 1 October 2013 found him guilty of nine out of twenty three charges of crimes against humanity and genocide committed in 1971.

Later on 29 October of the same year Salauddin appealed to the SC challenging the tribunal verdict.

On 29 July this year the apex court upheld ICT 1 verdict of death penalty to Salauddin.
