5 killed in bus-auto-rickshaw collision

Chittagong: Five people, including four members of a family, were killed and four others injured in a collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Monsha area of Patiya upazila on Friday noon.

The deceased are Rupna Sen, wife of Anjan Sen, their son Anik Sen, 6, Kakon Sen, 3, son of Kanchan Sen, Milton Sen, and driver Mohammad Saiful.

Chittagong Medical College Hospital police camp in-charge sub-inspector Mohammad Jahir said the accident took place at about 12:30pm when the Cox’s Bazar-bound bus collided with the auto-rickshaw, leaving Milton dead on the spot and eight others critically injured.

Among the injured, Kakon died in the Patiya Sadar Hospital while three others succumbed to their injuries at the Chittagong Medical College Hospital, said Chittagong Highway Police sub-inspector Masud.

The injured are Anamika Sen, Kanchan Sen, Anjan Sen and Arpon Sen.

Meanwhile, police seized the bus but the driver managed to flee.
