Man to be quizzed over college teacher murder
Dhaka: A court in Dhaka on Sunday granted police to quiz a person named KM Zahirul Islam Palash for two days in a case filed for the murder of former college teacher Krishna Kaberi Biswas in Mohammadpur area of the capital.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rashed Talukdar passed the order rejecting the bail appeal after Detective Branch inspector Delwar Hossain, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced Palash before the court seeking 10-day police custody for grilling him, who is the lone accused in the sensational murder.
Earlier on Thursday, another court in Dhaka sent Palash to jail rejecting his bail petition as he surrendered before it and sought bail in the case.
According to the case documents, Krishna Kaberi Biswas, 36, wife of BRTA deputy director Sitangshu Shekhar Bishwas and a former teacher of the city’s Mission International College, came under a brutal hammer attack by the accused in their apartment on 30 March.
Krishna’s husband Sitangshu, their 14-year-old daughter Srabani Biswas Sruti and eight-year-old daughter Arti Biswas were also injured in the attack.
The attacker, Palash, was known to Sitangshu.
On the night of 30 March, the killer entered the flat of Sitangshu to greet him on his belated birthday.
Then Palash hit him on the head with a hammer after drugging him with contaminated juice.
As Krishna wanted to save her husband, the killer hacked her with a kitchen sickle and later set her on fire. She died the next day.
