Enclave dwellers see ray of hope in Mamata visit

The dwellers of the Panchagarh enclave carried out a procession on Friday expressing their joy over West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s visit to Bangladesh.
They hope that the declaration of exchanging enclaves will come after the land boundary agreement is signed during this visit. They think that the declaration will give them ‘freedom’ from their ‘captivity’.
Bangladesh-India Enclaves Exchange Co-ordination Committee of Panchagarh brought out the procession at the Putimari enclave of Boda upazila on Friday. People expressed their joy dancing and singing in the procession.
The co-ordination committee president Mafider Rahman said ‘We welcome Mamata Banerjee on behalf of the people of the 111 enclaves of India and Bangladesh who will achieve freedom from captivity after 65-year struggle. After the enclaves exchange, we will be able live peacefully. Our lifestyle will develop. We will get back our citizenship.’
