Prosecutor appeals to fix date for Salauddin, Mujahid’s verdicts review
Dhaka: Public prosecutor on Thursday submitted petition seeking date for reviewing the verdict which uphold the death penalty awarded to BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid.
Prosecution’s attorney general submitted the plea to the concerned section of Appellate Division at about 12:30pm.
Deputy attorney general Ekramul Haque told NTV Online that the tribunal act says to clear the cases over crimes against humanity soon. However, the court is now closed for vacvation, so we filed petition to fix a date for the hearing of the review plea filed by Salauddin and Mujahid.
Hearing on fixing the date for the review petition of the death-row convicts will be held at Chief Justice’s court on 20 October, said Ekramul Haque.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mujahid filed separate review petitions against the court order which upheld the death penalty handed over to them for their crimes against humanity during the War of Independence.
