10 Bam Morcha men hurt in Manikganj cop action
Manikganj: At least 10 activists of Ganatantrik Bam Morcha, a combine of left-leaning parties, were injured as police charged baton on them during a rally in Manikganj on Friday.
Witnesses said nearly 200 leaders and activists of the alliance gathered at the foot of Freedom Fighter Monument in the district town at about 4:00pm to hold a rally demanding the cancellation of the proposed 1320-megawatt Rampal power plant project.
However, police obstructed them, saying they had no permission for the rally.
When the combine activists brought out a procession with banners and festoons and tried to march towards Manikganj bus stand, police snatched their banners and festoon and charged baton on them, leaving 10 people injured.
Some of the injured were given first aid at Sadar Hospital.
