Dhaka: A day after the United States’ security message update for its citizens in Bangladesh, Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Sunday said the country’s economy will not be affected by the American policy.

‘The American policy was not comfortable for Bangladesh over the last 6-7 years. The US has showed an adverse attitude to Russia and Bangladesh. But it won’t affect Bangladesh’s economy,’ Muhith said while talking to reporters at the Secretariat.

Earlier on Saturday, the US Embassy in Dhaka updated its security message for American citizens in Bangladesh saying terrorist threat remains ‘real and credible’.

Replying to a question about the murders of two foreigners in the country, the minister said, ‘There’s nothing to create fuss over the recent killing of two foreigners. Many people are also killed in the USA. Now, the law and order situation in Bangladesh is wonderful.’

Replying to a question over Khalea Zia, the Finance Minister said, ‘I don’t know whether the BNP chairperson is trying to settle in the UK. But I only can say her trick which she adopted has failed.’
