CCIE Controller Shahidul suspended
Dhaka: Controller of the Office of the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports (CCIE) M Shahidul Haque who was filmed while counting bribed money has been suspended.
Commerce Secretary Hedayet Ullah Al Mamoon said on
Tuesday, ‘Yes, he has been suspended …a departmental case has been filed against him,’
He said they got permission to carry out an investigation against the CIE Controller.
Earlier on 11 October, Shahidul Haque was withdrawn from his office.
Earlier, a leading Bengali daily published an investigative report on his corrupt practices describing how much serious he was in taking bribe in cash.
The functions of the office of the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports are governed by the Imports and Exports (Control) Act 1950; the Importers, Exporters Indentors (Registration) Order, 1981, and Review, Appeal and Revision Order 1977.
