Foreign envoys happy over security: Minister
Dhaka: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday said the USA, the UK, Canada and Australia are happy over the security arrangement for foreigners in Bangladesh.
The minister came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after a meeting with the envoys of the four countries at the Secretariat.
Asaduzzaman said, ‘We’ve discussed the country’s law and order situation and security arrangements for the foreign nationals staying here. We’ve ordered the Police Supers of the remote districts to tighten security arrangements to provide security to the foreign citizens working there.’
The Home Minister further, ‘We told them that we haven’t found any connection of Islamic State or any other militant group with the killing of the two foreign citizens. However, I asked them to share with us if they find any.’
He said the mystery behind the killings will be unfolded as soon as possible.
US Ambassador Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat, UK High Commissioner Robert W Gibson, Canadian High Commissioner in Dhaka Benoît-Pierre Laramée and Australian High Commissioner Greg Wilcock attended the meeting.
