Keraniganj: Four workers were killed as a bus knocked down a rickshaw van in Mollarpul area on the Dhaka-Mawa Highway in South Keraniganj upazila on Wednesday night.

The deceased are Shamsul Haque, Dulal Bepari, Mojammel, and Rahim.

Witnesses said the Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Aram Paribahan’ hit a rickshaw van carrying the four workers in the area at about 10:00pm, leaving the four of the van seriously injured.

The injured were admitted to Mitford Hospital where Shamsul, Dulal and Mojammel died at about 11:00 pm.

Later, Rahim was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injures at about 10:00am on Thursday.

Police seized the bus but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene.

A case was filed in this connection.

Recently, World Health Organisation (WHO) reveals that around 21,316 people were killed in road accidents across Bangladesh in 2012 alone.
