Dhaka: Muggers killed a young man in Kuril Bishwa Road area of the capital city on Sunday morning.

The deceased is Ananta Biswas, believed to be 28 years old, a resident of Gaibandha district.

The Khilkhet police said a gang of muggers, riding a private car, swooped on Ananta and his wife Kakoli Biswas when they just got down from a bus from Gaibandha on their way home at about 5:45am.

At one stage, when the muggers tried to snatch away Kakoli’s belongings, Ananta tried to resist them.

Barred, the muggers hit Ananta with a sharp weapon inflicting critical injuries upon him as he fell on the ground.

Ananta was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where attending doctors declared him dead.
