Case filed over Old Dhaka Shia shrine blasts
Dhaka: A case was filed under Anti-Terrorism Act over the bomb blasts at Hosani Dalal in the Old Dhaka that killed one person and wounded nearly 100, as thousands gathered for the annual Ashura procession.
Sub-inspector (SI) Jalal Uddin filed the case with Chawk Bazar on Sunday.
Chawk Bazar police sub-inspector Anjan Sarker said the case was filed at about 8:30am against anonymous persons.
He said investigating officers for the case will be appointed soon.
A 16-year old boy was killed and around 100 people were injured in the bomb explosions at the Shia Muslim community’s headquarters, Huseni Dalan, in the old part of Dhaka city early Saturday.
Three homemade bombs went off at about 1:45am when Shia community people gathered there for bringing out a Tajia procession marking holy Ashura.
Probe body formed
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Saturday formed a three-member probe committee to investigate bomb blasts at a gathering of Shia Muslim community’s headquarters in the old part of Dhaka that left one person killed.
