Boy ‘shot by lawmaker’ released from hospital

Rangpur: An 8-year-old boy Sourav, who received injures with stray bullets allegedly fired by local lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton at Gopalcharan village in Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha district on 2 October, left Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Monday morning.
Doctor ASM Barkat Ullah, director of the hospital, said Sourav was released from the hospital and handed over to his parents at about 11:30am as his treatment has been colawmakerleted.
Later, Sourav started his journey for his house with his parents escorted by police at about 11:45am.
Earlier on 2 October, Sourav, son of Sazu Miah of Gopalcharan village in Gaibandha district, suffered wounds to his both legs with bullets allegedly fired by Manjurul Islam Liton at the village.
Stray bullets from the pistol of local lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton struck Sourav when Liton was going to his Bamondanga village home driving his own car at about 5:00am, leaving the boy injured.
Later, the boy who received two bullets in his two legs was rushed to Sundarganj Upazila Health Complex and then shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
