Security tightened at Dhaka airport
Dhaka: Security has been beefed up at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka apprehending ‘subversive activities’ by the authorities.
As part of the tight security measures, visitors are being prevented from entering the airport since Tuesday morning.
Airport authorities said the authorities have taken the decision not to allow visitors inside the airport as the intelligence agencies have information that saboteurs carrying explosives might enter the airport in the guise of visitors.
The intelligence agencies also have the information that the saboteurs might carry out explosives that might be undetectable by metal detectors and archways, according to the officials.
Contacted, assistant superintendent of Airport Armed Police (AAP) Tanjina Akhter said they have intensified the security for security rearrangement.
However, a handout issued by the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry said the entry of visitors have been suspended due to refurbishment works.
