3 Tavella murder suspects to be quizzed
Dhaka: A court in Dhaka on Monday granted police to quiz three people, arrested in connection with the Italian national Cesare Tavella murder case, each for 8 days.
The three suspects are Md Russel Chowdhury alias Chakki Russel, Minhajul Arefin Russel alias Kala Russel and Md Shakhawat Hossain alias Sharif.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mahbubur Rahman passed the order when DB inspector Md Jehad Hossain produced them before the court seeking 10-day police custody for each.
Meanwhile, another suspect Tanjid Ahmed Rubel alias Mobile Rubel alias Shooter Rubel reportedly made confessional statements before the court of another metropolitan magistrate today.
Earlier, DB police arrested the four suspects from different areas in the capital.
A senior DB official requesting anonymity said among the suspected people, three were directly involved in the killing mission while another was arrested on charge of providing the motorcycle used in the killing mission.
He, however, did not mention when they were arrested.
Cesare Tavella, 50, Project Manager for PROOFS (Profitable Opportunities for Food Security) of the Netherlands-based non-governmental organisation ‘ICCO Cooperation’, was shot dead by some miscreants in the city’s Gulshan area on 28 September.
A case was filed with Gulshan Police Station on the day. It was transferred to DB police on 29 September.
