Dhaka: Police have reiterated their claim that an Islami Chhatra Shibir leader from Bogra stabbed to death Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) of police Ibrahim Hossain Mollah in Dhaka on Thursday night.

Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Shiekh Maruf Hasan made the claim while visiting the murder spot at Gabtali on Tuesday.

Police have been trying to arrest the Shibir leader, Enamul Haque, he added.

Maruf Hasan also said it would be investigated whether there was any negligence of duty on the part of police during the incident.

ASI Ibrahim of Darus Salam Police Station was stabbed to death by a youth on Thursday night at a checkpoint near Parbata Cinema Hall of Gabtali when a police team was searching his bag.

Police detained one of the attackers—Sumon—while his accomplices, Enamul Haque Kamal, fled the scene with the motorcycle.

Sub-inspector Habibur Rahman filed a case with the police station on Friday.
