2 high rises catch fire in Dhaka
Dhaka: Two high-rise buildings—one at Gulshan-2 and another at New Eskaton Road—caught fire in the city on Sunday morning.
A fire broke out in a seven-storey commercial building at Gulshan-2 in Dhaka.
Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters duty officer Enayet Hossain said the fire erupted on the 7th floor of ‘IK Tower’ at about 8:38am and spread soon.
On information, five fire fighting units rushed in and doused the blaze after half an hour’s efforts.
The origin of the blaze could not be immediately known.
In another incident, a multi-storey under-construction building in the New Eskaton Road area caught fire at about 8:55am.
The fire broke out at a flat of the building at New Eskaton Road near Janakantha Bhaban.
On information, three fire fighting units rushed to the spot and were working to bring the fire under control as of filing this report at 9:40am.
