Tavella killing order came from London: Hanif
Dhaka: Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Wednesday alleged that the assailants of the two foreigners received the murder instruction from London.
‘There’s another big brother other than the former ward commissioner whose name has already been disclosed over the killing of a foreigner. The instruction for the murder of the two foreigners came from London,’ he said.
The ruling party leader came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after a meeting of Swechchhasebak League at Awami League president’s Dhanmondi office in the city.
Hanif said the country’s conscious people had earlier doubted that BNP chief Khaleda Zia went to London to hatch conspiracies and this has now proven correct.
He alleged that the BNP-Jamaat clique is carrying out killings, including that of the two foreigners, in the country aiming to go to power by destabilising the country.
The AL leader also criticised the foreigners for their efforts to link militant outfit Islamic State (IS) with the murders of the two foreign nationals and said there is existence of IS militants in Bangladesh.
Hoshi Kunio, a Japanese citizen, was shot dead in Rangpur on October 3, while Cesare Tavella, an Italian national, gunned down in Dhaka’s Gulshan area on September 28.
Twenty-eight days after the killing of Tavella, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia on Monday told reporters that they have arrested four youths who were hired by a ‘big brother’ to kill a foreigner in the city. He, however, did not disclose the name of the big brother.
But, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan last night told different media that the big brother behind the murder Tavella is Dhaka city BNP’s joint convener and ex-DCC ward commissioner MA Kaiyum, now in Malaysia.
