Shamser Mobin quits party, politics
Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury retired from politics quitting the party post citing health reasons.
BNP chairperson's press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan said, ‘The BNP leader has quit the party post as he announced retirement from politics.’
‘I am a war-wounded freedom fighter. At present, I am very sick. Now, I am not in a position to active in politics due to my illness. For this reason, I have decided to go on retirement from politics. My retirement will be effective from now,’ Mobin told UNB on Thursday morning.
He said that he sent his resignation letter to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia through its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Shamsher Mobin, a diplomat-turned politician, served as Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States from 2005 to 2007.
He joined BNP in 2008 and made BNP chairperson’s foreign affairs adviser. He was made vice-chairman of the party in its 2009 council.
