Savar municipality mayor taken to hospital
Savar: Savar municipality mayor Mohammad Refat Ullah, who was placed on a 10-day custody for questioning in two cases, was admitted to Dhaka Central Jail Hospital following a court order on Wednesday night.
Jail hospital sources said Refat Ullah fell sick when he was being taken to a court from Dhaka central jail on Wednesday afternoon, the third day of his 10-day custody. Then he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Later, Refat, also president of the municipality unit of BNP, was produced before the court after receiving primary treatment at DMCH.
However, he again fell sick at the courtroom from where he was sent to Mitford Hospital.
As the court ordered the jail authorities to give treatment to the mayor Refat was admitted to the jail hospital at night.
Earlier on 25 October, police arrested Refat Ullah from his residence at Kornopara in Savar upazila on sabotage charge.
On the same day, a court placed the BNP leader on a 10-day police custody for questioning in two cases—one filed for possessing arms and the other under the Explosive Substances Act.
