Dhaka: A number of organizations protested the recent statement of Amnesty International (AI) regarding the Liberation War and the ongoing trial of war criminals.

In the statement, Amnesty International demanded trial of freedom fighters and questioned the transparency of the trial of war criminals.

The organizations included the Sector Commanders' Forum, the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad and Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee.

The statements decried AI's partisan attitude and criticized its lack of interest during the genocide of 1971.

They also termed the AI's statement as a blatant interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign country and called upon the organization to withdraw it immediately.
