Narayanganj: A ward councillor of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) was allegedly stabbed to death by miscreants in Jamaipara area of Bandar upazila on Saturday night.

The injured is Sultan Ahmed, a councillor of ward 22 of NCC.

Police said, a group of miscreants attacked him while he was supervising construction work of a road conducted by the city corporation in the area at night, leaving him critically injured.

Rescued by local people, he was admitted to Narayanganj General Hospital.

Sultan’s family alleged that he had had an altercation with a local influential person named Habibur Rahman Habi and his son-in-law Alamin in the afternoon, who illegally grabbed the land of the

city corporation and constructed shops and other structures there.

Over the issue, Habi also threatened Sultan in the afternoon as the city corporation authorities evicted them from the land.

Local people alleged that the men of Habi attacked Sultan.

Bandar Police picked up Alamin in this connection.
