Father of Jagriti publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan, who was stabbed to death on Saturday, does not want to bring the killers of his son to justice as his ideology is similar to that of the killers, said Awami League joint general secretary Mahbul ul Alam Hanif on Sunday.

Hanif came up with the remarks while talking to reporters at the Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.

He said, ‘As far as I am concerned, Dipon’s father Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque, a former Dhaka University Bangla professor, does not want justice at all as it is a political killing. It astounded me. I think the new also surprised the whole nation.’

‘I have witnessed it first time in Bangladesh that a man after killing of his son does not want justice. I think this had not happened in this world before. I think the professor’s ideology is similar to that of the killers. May be he does not want his party comrades to stand trial. It is very pathetic and shameful. I am also a father. As a father, I am ashamed of it.’

Faisal Arefin Dipan was stabbed to death any time after 4:00pm on Saturday at his office at Aziz Super Market in Shahbagh in Dhaka. He was found hacked in a pool of blood. Doctors, after postmortem examinations, said he was hacked to death.

Later on Saturday night, his father Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque told media that he does not want trial of the killers as he will not get justice. He mentioned that the country needs a political solution, rather death sentence to few killers.
