Comilla: Police in a drive seized 300 bottles of Phensidyl from the private car of a senior assistant secretary of the Public Administration Ministry in Khadghor in Chandina, Comilla on Saturday.

Police also arrested car driver Bashar, hailing from Brahmanbaria, with the vehicle. Police found a sticker of Public Administration Ministry on the car.

A team of police led by sub-inspector Mizan gave a signal to a private car to stop in Madhaiya of the upazila at about 7:00am, said Manir Hossain, sub-inspector of Iliotganj Highway police camp.

As the private car was moving defying the signal, police chased the car and stopped it near Khadghor area.

Later, police recovered 300 bottles of Phenidyl from the car owned by senior assistant secretary Abdullah Hakkani. They found seal and visiting cards of Hakkani in the car.

Sensing danger, a passenger of the private car named Bahar fled the scene.

However, Abdullah Hakkani confirmed that he is owner of the vehicle but he has no idea about the drugs, said Rezaul Karim, superintendent of Comilla police.
