11 suspected JMB members held

Dhaka: Detective Branch (DB) detained 11 suspected members of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in a drive at Abdullahpur in Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan police (DMP) via a text message said the suspected JMB members were held in the early hours of Tuesday.

The arrestees are Arif Ibne Khayer alias Rifat, a leader, Mohammad Babu Munsi alias Masud Rana, Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Mohammad Omar Faruk, Mohammad Alhaj Miah, Mohammad Helal Uddin, Abul Baset, Mohammad Sujat, Azahar Ali, Mohammad Farhad Hossain and Mizanur Rahman.

Detectives also seized explosives, local arms and propaganda booklets from the detainees.

Talking to reporters at a press briefing at the media centre of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) DB Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam said a team of DB (North Division) and the Lawful Interception Centre (LIC) jointly conducted a drive in Abdullahpur area and arrested the 11 suspected JMB members about 8:30pm on Monday.
