BNP says country plunging into chaos
Dhaka: The country is plunging into a chaotic situation as law enforcers are too concerned about suppressing the opposition leaders to deal with criminals, claims Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
BNP senior leader Hannan Shah on Wednesday came up with the allegation while speaking at a discussion at the National Press Club in Dhaka.
‘The country is again heading towards a disorder. Now people have no security of their lives and property as law enforcers have been let loose against opposition politicians, not against the terrorists,’ UNB quoted him as saying.
The BNP leader added: “How can the government engage law enforcers to arrest terrorists as most of them belong to their party?”
Hanna Shah, a military officer-turned politician, also said the police force has neither skill nor has necessary training to arrest the criminals and restore peace in public life.
Jatiyatabadi Zia Samajkalyan Parishad arranged the discussion marking 7 November, a day BNP and its affiliated organisations observe as National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
The BNP leader alleged that the government is pampering the terrorists by resorting to blame game instead of taking action against them.
He said how the country’s people will feel safe when a military police came under attack near the office of an intelligence force.
‘The government is completely failed to restore peace and maintain law and order,’ said Hannan Shah, who is a BNP standing committee member.
He alleged that the law enforcers are arresting nearly 1,000 opposition men every day on average.
