Lawmaker’s driver held for killing schoolgirl

Mymensingh: Detectives arrested a young man, said to be the driver of a lawmaker, from Sankipara area of Mymensingh town on early Friday in connection with the killing of a schoolgirl, reports UNB.
The arrestee is Shahjahan Habib Munna, a resident of the area and also a cousin of the victim.
Imarat Hossainh Gazi, officer-in-charge of Mymensingh Detective Branch of police said, a DB team conducted a drive in the area in the early hours and arrested Munna.
Victim’s family members said Munna used to harass Nadira Akhter, a class-III student of Zila Parishad School and daughter of van driver Yunus Ali of Gonshar Mor area of the town.
Nadira’s family forbade Munna to visit their house.
Angered at the prohibition, the youth dragged Nadira into his vehicle while she was returning from her school on Thursday.
Later, Munna stabbed, slaughtered her and dumped the body in Badekalpa area of the district town.
Police recovered the body from the area on Thursday afternoon.
