Faridpur: A total of 1,000 villagers were charged in connection with beating four robber suspects to death at Faridpur on Saturday.

Sadar police sub-inspector Shah Alam filed the case against 1,000 villagers on Saturday.

The four suspected robbers were beaten to death by a group of villagers at Chowdhurydangi village at Charmadhabdia union early on Saturday.

Assistant Superintendent of Police FM Mahiuddin said one of the deceased was identified as Khokon, son of Abdus Salam of Chatul village in Boalmari upazila of the district while the bodies of three others were kept at the morgue of Sadar Hospital.

Besides, one Momin Sheikh, a resident of Chowdhurydangi village filed another case against 10-12 people for attempting to commit robbery.
