Jessore: Miscreants hacked and shot an Awami League leader to death in Jessore Sadar on Tuesday morning.

The deceased, Mosharraf Hossain, was Ichali union council chairman and union Awami League general secretary.

Jessore Katawali police officer-in-charge Enamul Haque said that the incident occurred while Moshrraf Hossain was on his way to the union council at about 11:00am.

Local people took Mosharraf to Jessore 250-bed General Hospital immediately after the incident.

A doctor of the hospital, Abdullah Al Mamun, told NTV Online that the body has bullet wounds on his chest and head. There were also several hacking wounds on the body of the deceased.
