Kurigram: Over 500 leaders and workers of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jatiya Party (JP) have joined formally the ruling Awami League (AL).

The joining ceremony was held on Friday at the Shaheed Minar in Kurigram.

Those who joined Awami League included Kurigram district Swechchasebak Dal joint convener Rasheduzzaman Koton, member Abdul Motaleb Lizar, Kurigram Poura JP member and a councillor of Kurigram Pourasabha Anisur Rahman, former councillor Abdul Malek, councillor Zamshed Ali Tunku and district JP Sramik Party general secretary Abdur Rahim.

The ceremony was attended by district Awami League president Aminul Islam Manju Mandol as the chief guest. Poura AL president Nazrul Islam presided over the function, also addressed, among others, by district AL general secretary and former lawmaker Zafar Ali, vice president Chashi Karim and Poura AL general secretary Kaziul Islam.
