Satkhira: A woman and her daughter were killed in a road accident on Satkhira-Jessore highway in Sadar upazila of Satkhira on Friday.

The victims were identified as Rasheda Begum, 40, wife of Rafiqul Islam, and their daughter Sumi Khatun, 12, hailing from Baganbari area of the district town.

Assistant sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station Sohrab Hossain said a moving bus of ‘Sangram Paribahan’ from Dhaka hit Rasheda and Sumi from behind in Chhoygharia area at about 7:00pm, leaving them dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police also seized the bus but its driver managed to flee the scene.
