Dhaka: The hanging body of a garment worker was recovered from her rented house at Savar in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The deceased Jahanara, 26, was a worker in Doyel garments factory.

Jhorna Akhter, elder sister of Jahanara, alleged that Jahanara had an altercation with the house owner Ishak Miya on Monday over the due rent of the house. The gas and water supply to the house was cut off. She was killed and hanged from the ceiling of the room at night.

However, Ishak Miya denied the claim saying there was no issue of due rent and he had no altercation with Jahanara.

He alleged that he had been made a scapegoat.

Savar police officer-in-charge Kamruzzaman said being informed, police recovered the body at about 9:00am on Tuesday and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.

Kamruzzaman said several injury marks of sharped weapon were found in Jahanara’s body. Actions will be taken after a case is filed in this connection.
