Magura: An Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology student died in Magura Sadar Hospital on Monday evening after he had been taken there with serious poisoning.

Family said Rajib Kumar Sikdar, along with his classmate Tauhiduzzaman Uzzal, both computer science third year students, fell ill after drinking toxic alcohol.

They drank on the occasion of immersion of the idols of Kattayani Puja on Saturday, confirmed Uzzal Kumar Sikdar, uncle of Rajib.

Both were admitted into the hospital, but Rajib, son of Sukumar Sikdar of Chalbazar of the town, died on Monday evening.

He had been cremated at Satdowa Asram in the district town.

However, Tauhiduzzaman Uzzal, from Matidhali of Bogra, is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
