2 held with 18kg gold at Dhaka Airport

Dhaka: Customs intelligence officials recovered 161 gold bars weighing around 18.7 kilograms at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka and detained two people in this connection on Wednesday.
The arrestees are Shamsuddin, a resident of Chandpur, and Abu Sayeed, a resident of Chittagong.
Director General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate Mainul Khan said Shamsuddin and Abu Sayeed arrived here from Dubai by a flight ‘EK582’ at about 8:30am.
Tipped off, a team of Customs intelligence officials challenged the duo after landing at the airport and searched them.
Later, they recovered the 161 gold bars after searching the passengers’ bodies.
The market value of the gold is Tk9.35 crore.
