Narayanganj: Police recovered the body of a minor girl, who had allegedly been abducted by miscreants on Wednesday, from a pond near her house at Girda Chowdhurypara village of Araihazar upazila in Narayanganj on Friday morning.

The deceased is Hafsa Akhter Rupa, 5, daughter of Hazrat Ali, hailing from the village.

Araihazar police officer-in-charge said a group of miscreants allegedly abducted the girl on Wednesday noon while she was playing in a field near her house.

Late at night, the abductors demanded Tk3.6 lakh from the victim’s father as ransom over phone.

Hazrat Ali refused to give them the ransom money and informed police of the matter.

On Friday morning, locals informed police after noticing Rupa’s body in a pond near her house.

Police have arrested a teenage boy over the incident as the mobile that was used in demanding ransom belongs to him.

A case will be filed in this connection, added the OC.
