Bogra: Police on Friday detained two young men in connection with the gun attack in a Shia mosque which left the muezzin of the mosque dead and three devotees injured at Haripur village of Shibganj upazila in Bogra on Thursday.

Shibganj police officer-in-charge said this adding that a case has been filed in connection with the incident.

On Thursday evening, a group of 4-5 unidentified gunmen stormed into the mosque and opened fire on the devotees while they were offering their maghrib prayers, leaving four of them injured with bullets.

The injured were taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where doctors declared muezzin of the mosque Moazzem dead.

The Shia community mosque is run under the supervision of Bogra chapter of Bangladesh Inamia Janakalyan Foundation.
