Gaibandha: Police recovered hanging body of a person from Hingarpara area at Sadullahpur upazila in Gaibanda on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Rabiul Islam, 38, son of Wazed Munsi, a resident of Nayanpur village of the upazila.

He was a chairman candidate for the upcoming municipality polls.

Being informed by locals, police recovered the hanging body of Rabiul from a field in the area at about 10:00am, said Rezaul Karim, sub-inspector of Daperhat police investigation centre.

The body was sent to Gaibandha Adhunik Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police suspected that miscreants might have killed Rabiul and then hung the body from a tree, the SI added.
