Gopalganj: A mother has confessed to the killing of two sons whom she, along with her secret lover, had murdered to hide their extra-marital affair, say police.

The killing took place at the Bhojergati village of Sadar upazila in Gopalganj.

Gopalganj assistant superintendent of police (circle) Amirul Islam said, ‘The mother made the confession on Saturday after she was produced before the court of Gopalganj chief judicial magistrate Gautam Ghosh.

Amirul Islam said the woman got engaged in an extra-marital affair with a man who was from Madaripur.

According to police, the said lover came to visit the woman on Thursday night when her husband was not at home. But as the elder son of the house Rayhan Sardar (10) saw them together in an intimate situation, they strangled him with a scarf. Later, they also killed the younger son Rais Sardar (4).

Police arrested the mother after the father of the deceased children filed a murder case over the incident.
