Kushtia: A young man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself after stabbing his friend to death at Haripur in Sadar upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased are Sujan Ali, who is around 17 years old, a Year-I student of Amla Government College and his friend Palash, reports local news agency.

Witnesses said Palash intercepted Sujan and stabbed him indiscriminately with a sharp weapon over previous enmity while he (Sujan) was going to Haripur Bazar at about 8:45am, leaving him critically injured.

Local people rescued Sujan but he died on the way to Kushtia General Hospital.

After the incident, Palash entered the house of his relative Alam and locked himself into a room. Police and local people encircled the house.

Later, Palash hanged himself with the ceiling of the room.

Police recovered the bodies and sent those to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Additional Superintendent of Police Joynul Abedin confirmed the incident.
