Dhaka: Liberal democracy is the appropriate political system for achieving national cohesion and economic progress, says President Abdul Hamid.

‘We chose to be non-aligned and promote development rather than support a rigid political alliance. Our foreign policy is independent and its goal is to attain global peace and harmony,’ he said when the participants of National Defence Course-2015 and Armed Forces War Course-2015 met him at Bangabhaban.

The President stressed incorporating techniques and forms in NDC curricula to manage any situation successfully as the world is getting more inter-dependent and complicated one.

‘The present world is getting more inter-dependent and complex. It’s now more chaotic and threatening than ever and tilts us, particularly developing countries, to a more challenging world,’ he said.

Abdul Hamid said, ‘Against the backdrop, I believe the technique, forms and management of emerging threat to be incorporated in NDC curricula so that the graduates of NDC can manage the situation successfully as policymakers.’

He went on saying, ‘I hope you’ll set your goals and principles and let it motivate you to serve your country through promoting values and social justice. I’m sure you’ll make a huge difference and set examples for others.’

Pointing at 25 Course Members, including three female from 12 friendly countries, the President said, ‘Besides your professional learning, I believe, you’ve seen and learnt many things about Bangladesh including our rich customs, values & traditions. I’m sure that the traditional Bangladeshi hospitality has given you a warm touch of love and affection which is enriched with fraternity and amity. I hope you’ll be Goodwill Ambassadors of Bangladesh after reaching your respective countries and positions.’
