Chittagong: Rejecting the charge-sheet submitted by DB police, a court in Chittagong on Monday asked the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to carry out further investigation into the seizure of liquid cocaine at Chittagong Seaport.

Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Rahmat Ali passed the order saying that the DB charge-sheet was full of flaws, reports UNB.

On 19 November, detectives pressed charges against eight people with a court in connection with the seizure of liquid cocaine at the port.

The accused were two Bangladeshi-born British nationals Bakul Miah and Fazlu Miah, Prime Hatchery managing director Golam Mostafa Sohel, Cosco Bangladesh Shipping Lines ltd Manager AK Azad, Mandal Group business executive Atiqur Rahman, C&F official Saiful Alam, security company official Mehdi Alam and developer company official Mostafa Kamal.

Kazi Muttaki Ibnu Minan, a prosecution, said Golam Mostafa Sohel, a staff of M/S Khan Jahan Ali Ltd gave a confessional statement under section 164 where he mentioned the involvement of its chairman Nur Mohammad. But, the DB recommended withdrawing the name of the chairman from the charge-sheet.

Liquid cocaine was detected in 107 drums of a consignment of Bolivian sunflower oil which the customs intelligence officials seized at Chittagong Port on 8 June last.

Laboratory tests on the liquid samples from the consignment detected cocaine in the 185kg drums, which was imported against the name of Bolivian sunflower oil.

Bandar police sub-inspector Osman Goni filed a case against Nur Mohammad, owner of Khan Jahan Ali Limited, and its employee Sohel under the Narcotics Control Act on 28 June.
