Bagerhat: Three men were shot to death in a ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Chaprar Khal area of Sharankola range in the Sundarban on Thursday morning.
RAB-8 claims the deceased are the member of a forest robber gang, ‘Sagar-Saikat Bahini.’

Two of deceased are Sohel and Sadam. Another deceased could not be identified immediately.

RAB-8 commanding officer lieutenant colonel Faridul Alam said the forest robbers opened fire to the RAB members as they went for a raid in the Choprar Khal area at about 10:00am. In response, RAB also fired back to them that left three of the robbers dead on the spot.

RAB also recovered foreign and local made arms, 55 bullets and other equipment from the spot.

RAB said the body will be handed over to Sharankhola police.
