Dhaka: The human rights situation is very poor in Bangladesh which has been turned into a mass killing field after the 5 January controversial elections, says Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia.

In a party statement issued on Wednesday marking the International Human Rights Day tomorrow (10 December), the BNP chairperson said, ‘The illegal ruling alliance has stripped the people of their democratic rights by thorough bloodshed and reckless persecution on them.’

Signed by the BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi the statement expressed the party’s sympathy and support for the oppressed people of the around the world, including Bangladesh.

It was alleged that whoever is being critical of the government’s action is being arrested and harassed by the law enforcers.
